Educational Value
At Tanganyika we have summer, day, and spring break camps for children between the ages of 6 to 12. Our summer and spring break camps are Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 5:30 pm and each week has a different animal-based theme. Our day camps are for days out of school due to in-service or holiday breaks. They are also from 7:45 am to 5:30 pm and have different themes. Our camps provide children with a safe environment to learn about wildlife and conservation. Our goal is to give them the knowledge and experiences that will encourage the stewardship of animals as they continue to grow and learn. During camp they participate in games, crafts, and STEM activities that help drive the theme of the day. The themes are based on animal species we have in the park. They also get to interact with our animals through meet and greets, behind the scenes experiences, and assisting keepers in task. We have up to 35 campers for each camp. They are broken into age-appropriate pod groups and rotate through the activities for the day.
