Shaw Music Lessons provides half hour private music lessons to students who are on all levels of playing abilities. The lessons include, but are to limited to, the following: basic music theory, the reading of music, playing and performing techniques, approaches to musicality, music history, responsibility and self-discipline through practice and scheduling, and preparation for auditions and performances. The educational value is lifelong and has been proven to help students enjoy the arts, as well as perform better across all subjects and can provide the opportunity for college scholarships. As a teacher, I bring over 20 years of experience in both professional performing, but also teaching. I am currently finished with all coursework for my Doctorate in Musical Arts from UMKC and am finishing my dissertation this year to complete the degree. I have served in the US Marine Corps for 8 years active duty as a Musician performing in our nations highest enlisted musical unit, the US Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. I have taught at Washburn University and K-State University, as well as Saint Marys Academy.
